Beto Mesquita é Engenheiro Florestal (UFRuralRJ, 1993), Mestre em Conservação da Biodiversidade
(CATIE, Costa Rica, 1999) e Doutor em Ciências Ambientais e Florestais (UFRuralRJ, 2014). Atua há 27 no
terceiro setor, em projetos de conservação, áreas protegidas, restauração florestal, planejamento de
paisagens, políticas públicas e diálogos multissetoriais, com passagens por organizações locais, nacionais e
internacionais. Atualmente, é diretor executivo da BVRio, coordenador técnico do Instituto CICLOS de
Sustentabilidade e Cidadania e presidente do Conselho do Movimento Trilha Transcarioca. É membro da
Comissão Mundial de Áreas Protegidas da IUCN, do Grupo Estratégico da Coalizão Brasil Clima, Florestas e
Agricultura e do Conselho de Coordenação do Diálogo Florestal. Em 2020, foi agraciado com o Prêmio CREA/RJ
de Meio Ambiente, pela contribuição à proteção e recuperação das florestas do estado do Rio de Janeiro.
